JOHN BARKER STUDIO is a collaboration of visual art and music in Southern California and North Texas. For over 10 years John Barker has been producing video installations, photography, graphics, and electronic music performances to create distinct visual and sound environments. Many of his works are accompanied with other artists that transform surroundings and immerse viewers in sight and sound. He has been developing various experiments with ambient settings that explore nature and technology. John uses video and sound recordings to examine the connection and loss we have to nature and the imprint technology makes on us. His videos communicate to a wide audience, allowing viewers to experience the work directly, and in their own personal way.
John Barker received his BFA in Studio Art at the University of Texas at Austin in 2001 where he studied video art under Bill Lundberg. During his 7 years living in Austin, he was a DJ/Music Director/Art Director at KVRX, a performer with Austin Museum of Digital Art (AMODA), and started the band WATER FALLS. Since then he has launched Christmas Mountains Records, released the WATER FALLS debut album under Pour Le Corps, and has performed video and music throughout North and Central Texas and in Southern California.
